My dearest sister (~Kitty-Mikado (https://www.deviantart.com/kitty-mikado)) recently made a journal entry with a very serious point: People telling you to change the subject of what you do, be it art, writing, photography, or anything else. Especially our parents.
I've always hated it when my mother looks at my pictures or reads my work. Especially because she does so forcefully and without permission. I'm constantly scared to do the things I love because I fear her judgement, and so I hide most of my artwork and writings in places she doesn't look.
